The leader of a Messianic Jewish ministry says she agrees with U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky), who is calling for a halt to all U.S. aid to Egypt.

"I agree with Senator Rand Paul. We've got mobs there shouting Death to America,” says Jan Markell of Olive Tree Ministries.

“So the overthrow of the Muslim Brotherhood is not going to bring about any peace and prosperity,” she adds. “We should be ending foreign aid to countries that basically can't stand America."

Markell, Jan (Olive Tree Ministries)Paul has introduced legislation to prohibit the United States from sending foreign assistance to the government of Egypt as a result of the country's recent military coup, which resulted in the ouster of President Mohammad Morsi.

He said the law is clear that when a coup d'état takes place, foreign aid must stop - but President Obama still plans to continue aid to Egypt at a pace of more than $1.3 billion a year.

Markell says she agrees with Paul’s assessment that Egypt is the latest example of the Obama administration's misguided foreign policy, likening the “Arab Spring" and abandoning Israel and Hosni Mubarek to the Jimmy Carter administration abandoning the Shah in Iran.

“It could only happen under an Obama administration and under a Carter administration,” she suggests.

Markell says American foreign policy is a debacle, but laments that because of the Democratic-controlled Senate, Senator Paul's bill will not have a chance to pass.
