Samaritan's Purse, ready to help fire-ravaged California and Oregon, is seeking helpers for the cause.
Tom O'Brien, a program manager for Samaritan's Purse, is currently in Santa Cruz where volunteers are helping devastated Californians literally sift through the ashes.
“They're standing at the edge of their former home and it’s been literally, in many cases, reduced to less than six inches of ashes, and many of them are heartbroken,” he tells OneNewsNow.
On its website, the Samaritan’s Purse volunteer page shows the disaster relief ministry is working across the United States, from the wildfires in the West to the hurricane-battered Gulf Coast.
Back in California, O’Brien says Samaritan’s Purse is looking for volunteers to help for what appears to be a lengthy effort. The ministry, he says, plans to help until it is no longer needed.
“It's just such a gift and opportunity, and a blessing, to be able to come alongside them in their time of hardship,” he says, “and introduce them to God's love, and show them the love of Christ, and be the hands and feet of Jesus.”
