Verdad para Jovenes (Cuba)A Louisiana-based evangelist has returned from Cuba after distributing the first of 1.4 million youth Bibles. He says God is getting ready to do some amazing things on the communist island nation.

Thousands of young people in a country that has suffered under a communist dictatorship for almost 60 years are getting their very first look at the Word of God with their own eyes. Tim Todd of Revival Fires International just returned from spending nine days in Cuba handing out the first 50,000 Verdad para Jóvenes (Truth for Youth Bibles).

"The majority of these young people who were getting the Bibles are actually getting the very first Bible that they had ever had," he shares. "And so they held it like it was a piece of gold, close to their chests."

The graphic novel-formatted short stories at the front of the Cuban Spanish version deal with issues like peer pressure, pornography, and suicide.

Verdad para Jovenes 2 (Cuba) (inside story only)"The response was overwhelmingly exciting," says Todd. "The young people love the comic stories in the front section that deal with the truth about things that they are up against every day."

According to the evangelist, many of the Bibles went to friends of church members in the impoverished country. And even though the government sent not-so-secret observers to watch what he was doing, Todd says he wasn't worried in the least.

"We already have permission from [several Christian and government groups in Cuba] to publicly hand out the Truth for Youth Bibles to 1.4 million young people in Cuba," he notes.

But Todd knows time is of the essence. "We don't know how long this door in Cuba will be open," he says, "but while it is open we're going to run through this door."
