David Howell, 77, has distributed more than 100,000 copies of his book "How to Be a Child of God" through ministry Prison Evangelism.

Howell says his goal is to get the booklet into the hands of 600,00 prisoners by the end of the year.

According to the ministry, a conservative estimate suggests 10 percent of prisoners profess Jesus Christ as savior.

"Sixty thousand people will have their lives changed, or be impacted one way or another," says Howell, "so that they will not return to prison and be part of that 70 percent that returns after three to five years."

Howell tells OneNewsNow that a 54-cent copy of the book compares to the approximate $30,000 annually to incarcerate one inmate.

"It's like two billion dollars saved and that's like a 7,000-to-1 return on investment.  I don't know anything like that," says Howell.
