Complicit media going along with 'Hidin' Biden' tactics

Press Secretary Jen PsakiIn a rare candid remark about Joe Biden, a White House spokesperson let it be known that limiting the president's exposure to the press is part of the plan – and that revelation has sparked reaction from some in the conservative media.

It was an astounding admission from the White House press secretary last week when she said President Joe Biden's handlers don't want him talking to the press. Jen Psaki (pictured) dropped the bomb on a CNN podcast by Obama campaign strategist David Axelrod:

Psaki: "I mean, he did a mini-press conference yesterday. He takes questions nearly every day he's out with the press. That is not something we recommend. In fact, a lot of times we say 'Don't take questions' … but he's going to do what he wants to do because he's the president of the United States."

In the same interview, Psaki explained that the president's handlers are trying to prevent him from being "pulled in by distractions" and want him to use his time to "think about what the public cares about."

So much for a show of confidence in the American president, said Fox News' Joe Concha.

"I'm sure President Xi of China and President Putin of Russia and our adversaries from Iran to North Korea are taking note that the Leader of the Free World in Joe Biden has a team around him who has zero confidence in his ability to speak outside of scripted remarks," said Concha.

And as for CNN's response to Psaki's comments? "CNN has almost no interest in holding President Biden accountable. That would require being an actual news organization," Concha offered. "Instead, it serves at the pleasure of the Democratic Party."

Curtis Houck of the Media Research Center told Fox News that had those same comments come from the Trump White House, CNN would be running "snarky commentaries day and night" about how it was damaging democracy to prevent America's commander-in-chief from answering questions.

Objective: Don't stump to Prez

At least one conservative pundit suggests the reason for putting a "muzzle" on the president is Biden's clearly declining mental acuity. Radio talk-show host Jeff Crank says "that's clearly the case" with Joe Biden.

"I actually think other people are running the agenda. They're just making the decisions, deciding what's going to be put into legislation, doing the work with Congress – and I think Joe Biden is the figurehead president, really," the host of The Jeff Crank Show tells One News Now.

He contends that when Biden does go out in front of the press, he gets "preordained" softball questions "from safe sources."

"You know they don't want to actually have him face the real press," Crank continues. "And [reporters] know if they ask a question that stumps the President of the United States, they're not going to be asked to the cocktail party next time."

All this causes Crank to wonder if Biden will last the full four years of his term.

"I think a lot of it depends on the gaffes and how well they are able to protect him," he states. "I don't know how you can protect someone for four years of a presidential term – but at the same time, I didn't think it was possible to protect him throughout the whole campaign … and they were able to."

When an administration has a "complicit media," it's amazing what can be accomplished, he concludes.
