Fox-hating Dems, not a former president, coming after media
A media watchdog says it is worrisome but enlightening to witness prominent Democrats reveal themselves as authoritarian figures after they warned about Donald Trump for four years.
Former Facebook Security Chief Alex Stamos said on CNN last weekend the goal over the next couple years is clear:
"We have to turn down the capability of these conservative influencers to reach these huge audiences. They are extremely radical and pushing extremely radical views."
His answer, starting with Big Social and with the US news media, is to deplatform and cancel all conservatives. Scott Whitlock of the Media Research Center (MRC) says this is another case of the left not letting a crisis go to waste.
"For Big Tech, and frankly a lot of liberals in the media that support this, what's happening has nothing to do with the riot," Whitlock submits. "That's just an excuse for them to go after conservative outlets that they don't like."
He noticed the mainstream media descend into more mindless rage as the Trump administration wore on.
"A lot of liberals, especially in the media and Big Tech, are in an echo chamber. As the left has gotten more extreme during the Trump era, they essentially thought it was embarrassing that they might have had anything to do with Donald Trump being elected," says the MRC spokesman.
He further warns that the left has no intention of stopping at conservative media. Indeed, as One News Now recently noted, the 74 million voters who chose Trump over Biden have not escaped promises of punishment, as the vow to punish them has only escalated since the tens of thousans of Trump supporters marched from the Ellipse and surrounded the U.S. Capitol.
But Whitlock says the upside is "they're certainly going to overstep what they think they can accomplish or what they can do."
