A Change.org asking for the beloved "Peanuts" special to remain on network television has taken off like Snoopy dueling the Red Baron.
Michael Nebbia tells OneNewsNow he rushed to the website after learning Apple TV Plus has collected the popular holiday cartoons for its streaming service, which means they will no longer be broadcast on network television.
Apple TV Plus is airing the Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas specials along with new cartoons being produced for the streaming service, entertainment website The Verge reported.
Nebbia says his Charge.org petition is a first for him, and he has no preference where Peanuts lands on network TV, but his petition makes it clear he felt like Charlie Brown when Lucy yanks the football:
To our shock and dismay, it was announced that Apple had swiped the football from us and claimed the specials for their Apple TV platform, leaving us devoted fans who have grown up with Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang in the dark, unable to watch.
The petition, which can be seen and signed here, was nearing 200,000 signatures when OneNewsNow reviewed it Thursday morning.
Nebbia calls it “surreal” to witness public support for an effort that likely will not persuade the corporate executives to reverse their decision. And the petition acknowledges as much, too.
“Win or lose,” the petition states, “we are telling Apple and Wildbrain Studios that we will not fall for their corporate greed.”
