New York Times buildingAccording to a renowned political pundit, journalism in America is broken, and so is the protections it gives the people.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson is sounding the alarm about "this … ominous moment."

"When every power center in the nation – that includes big tech, big media, the finance establishments, the federal spy agencies – aligns behind a common political goal, you have a very dangerous axis," says Carlson.

The apparent goal at present is to remove Donald Trump from the White House. And if it is accomplished, Curtis Houck of Media Research Center (MRC) says one of those power centers would likely then abandon its post.

"If I'm a journalist in New York or Washington, DC, if Joe Biden wins this election, I'm looking forward to not really having to do my job for four years," Houck poses.

He says no free press in a democracy is as dangerous as the vindictive and conspiratorial press that is at play now.

"It's informing the public, holding people in power accountable, telling the public what's going on in the world, but also, I think, separately …educating the public – explaining things they do not know," the MRC spokesman submits about what the media's job is.

Without a free press, Houck says America steps closer to becoming an authoritarian oppressor like Russia or China.

Right now he says it is not necessary for the media to be told by the likes of Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY), Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI), or Joe Biden what to do because "they're already thinking on the same wavelength."
