Joe Biden at HRC dinner (June 2019)Some startling revelations from a Senate hearing this week were totally ignored by the major broadcast networks – to no one's surprise, says a media watchdog.

Republicans on Capitol Hill continue to dig into the Justice Department's spying scandal from the 2016 elections. On Wednesday, former Deputy U.S. Attorney General Sally Yates dropped a bombshell: she testified to the Senate Judiciary Committee and its chairman, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina), that she believed Barack Obama's FBI director, James Comey, bent the law in the course of his spying on the 2016 Trump campaign.

Yates: "I was upset that Director Comey didn't coordinate that with us and acted unilaterally. Yes, I was."

Graham: "Did Comey go rogue?"

Yates: "You could use that term, yes."

Graham: "Finally."

It was one of the first times the alleged conspirators turned on each other – but only those who were tuned into Fox News or some other conservative outlet heard about it. Scott Whitlock of Media Research Center says the "Big Three" broadcast networks totally ignored the hearing.

"None of the networks wanted to cover any of that," he reports. "They wanted to cover what they always want to do, which is something bashing Trump or boosting Biden."

Whitlock

As reported by MRC's Newsbusters, ABC, CBS, and NBC – instead of reporting on Yates' testimony – all "boasted" how Biden decided to deliver his acceptance speech from the safety of his basement in Delaware. According to Whitlock, the networks have shown their hand – again.

"This whole thing was about getting Trump," he states, "and when that failed, they seem to kind of just moved off, moved past that. And now it's clearly about defeating Trump in the November election."

He predicts that heading into the 2020 election, a healthy free press will be missing in action.

"Honestly, I don't think they're going to change," Whitlock laments. "I think that they have been radicalized to an extent that we're going to see this perpetual warfare back and forth, and the people on the right better be ready to fight it."

Newsbusters points out the networks' suppression of the Yates hearing occurred on the same evening they chose to cover up what has been described as "racist" remarks by Joe Biden.

"These two examples," says that report, "were the perfect evidence to prove that the media were protecting Biden's candidacy while making sure President Trump received no benefit from the truth."
