using Twitter (tweeting)The top leader at a social media giant is coming clean, finally, about how hot-button issues are treated: with disdain for right-wing views.

Twitter has been at the forefront of a left-wing effort to control online conversations. In 2018, the site punished conservative commentator Jesse Kelly and activist-journalist Laura Loomer just to name two examples.

On a Sam Harris podcast recently, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said he was no longer going to stand on the sidelines of important social issues.

"I don't believe that we can afford to take a neutral stance anymore," Dorsey declared during the interview.

Dorsey wasn't just talking about a hypothetical situation, either: Harris, a well-known atheist, was grilling Dorsey about Twitter banning feminist Megan Murphy for tweeting that "men are not women" while Louis Farrakhan is still using Twitter despite blatant anti-Semitic tweets.

Newsbusters reports that Dorsey (pictured below) responded immediately with his no-neutral-stance comment, and the CEO "dug in further" when Harris suggested banning violent content but allowing all other comments to go unpunished, which would reflect respect for the First Amendment.

Harris went on to point out that Twitter allows known terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah to have online accounts.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey testifyingDan Gainor of Media Research Center tells OneNewsNow there is particular angst at Twitter over Donald Trump's online followers and his influence on Twitter itself.

"Donald Trump is a media outlet all to himself," Gainor observes, "and journalists who want to define what is news coming out of the Trump administration cannot stand that reality."

Dorsey, says Gainor, is attempting to create a virtual safe space on Twitter for a particular point of view.

"They don't believe in the First Amendment online," Gainor alleges. "The first and most important thing to them is not freedom. It's safety."

Gainor goes on to call it "absolutely terrifying" that online speech is in being controlled by social media giants, including one of its leaders who openly declares there is no room for a "neutral stance."
