Facebook usersThe New York Times got its hands on internal Facebook rules from a concerned whistleblower, shedding light on a controversial attempt to define and police what we write.

Facebook is attempting to expand its popular social media site into China but there is a problem: the authoritarian government, which is officially communist, wants to control the content. The corporate giant is reportedly fighting back but is banning religious groups, at the behest of repressive governments, in other parts of Asia and in the Middle East.

According to the Times story, Facebook is relying on employees from around the globe to meet regularly and review guidelines that are amassed in more than 1,400 pages from an internal rulebook. Thousands more are employed to monitor postings, the story claimed.

"Inside Facebook's secret rulebook for global political speech," reads The New York Times headline.

Facebook like buttonThe story itself described a set of rules that make Facebook a "more powerful arbiter of global speech" than it has acknowledged.

Dan Gainor of the Media Research Center says that the social media giant is not fond of Christian conservatives in the United States.

"Christians need to understand that they have gone from being a majority in America to very quickly --- thanks to the major media, Hollywood and news --- to being a despised minority."

Facebook recently demonstrated its unhappiness by blocking evangelist Franklin Graham for a 2016 post  about protecting women and girls in public, a swipe at the issue of transgenders using restrooms. The block was a mistake, Facebook claimed, but Graham is hated by many leftists who likely applauded banning him for "hate speech" or "homophobia."

Franklin Graham preachingIf Facebook can ban Graham, asks Graham, why not others, too?

"There won't be a civil rights movement for Christians from the left. No, there will be a civil wrongs movement from the left," he warns. "So be prepared for things to get a lot worse, very quickly."

Yet he adds that conservatives must follow one rule no matter what: don't give up and don't surrender.

"Don't surrender," he tells OneNewsNow, "because that's exactly what the left and the media want you to do."
