An activist group for moms is shocked that an ad campaign promoting baby moisture products features a biological man claiming to be a mother.
In the middle of an online video for Unilever's Baby Dove campaign #RealMoms appears a cross-dressing biological father trying to pass as a mother. In the video featuring young women sharing their views of motherhood, the man – attempting to be a woman – says: "There's no one right way to do it all."
Monica Cole, director of OneMillionMoms.com, spoke with OneNewsNow. "It's just absurd that Dove would try to push an agenda and to be politically correct when they are offending their target market in the process of doing this," she offers.
Cole and other moms have been contacting the company to express their displeasure. The 1MM spokeswoman says they have received a response.
"They have said that their ads are 'truthful' and done 'in good taste,'" she quotes. "That's the part that stands out to me the most when this particular commercial is anything but truthful. It's false to portray a man as being a mother."
Cole says they are primarily concerned about children watching the ad and being confused by what they see.
