A TV watchdog is applauding President Trump's recent choice for chairman of the Federal Communications Commission.
Melissa Henson and the Parent's Television Council (PTC) are pleased that President Trump has appointed Ajit Pai, as Henson’s organization has had the honor of working with him during his tenure as a commissioner.
"We know that he has supported the enforcement of broadcast decency laws," she notes. "He's a father himself of young children, so he certainly understands the problems and the challenges that confront parents, especially when it comes to media content."
Henson tells OneNewsNow the PTC stands ready, willing, and able to help Pai on matters of mutual concern.
"Probably better than any other commissioner in recent years, he's going to be an advocate for families," Henson asserts. "Especially in the realm of broadcast indecency, I think he's going to be very strong on enforcing the existing broadcast decency laws, and so we're very much encouraged."
In addition, Pai has been an outspoken opponent of new "net neutrality" rules designed to regulate the Internet through the FCC as a public utility by regulating Internet service providers.
