A new study by the Media Research Center reveals that ABC, CBS, and NBC are committed to painting a rosy picture of abortion.
MRC's Katie Yoder researched the broadcast networks' morning and evening news coverage of abortion in 2014 and 2015. In all of the stories, not one time was there mention of any possible dangers to women posed by abortion, and often it was characterized as routine and necessary.
Yoder tells OneNewsNow while pro-life conservative websites are reporting on the health risks and dangers of abortions, the three broadcast networks are pitching a shutout.
"This refusal to report on these stories shows a bias on the issue of abortion at the expense of women's health,” she says. “And the pro-life movement knows that one person [the baby] always dies in an abortion, but the networks won't cover it even if two people [mother and baby] die in an abortion."
In contrast, Yoder notes, the networks appear eager to report the dangers and threats of attacks against abortion clinics.
"They'll report certain dangers; dangers that make the abortion industry look good and the pro-life movement look bad,” she tells OneNewsNow. “But they won't talk about how abortion harms women. It's like they care more about these clinics then they do about the women going into them."
Yoder explains that for ABC, CBS, and NBC, "there is only one side to the abortion issue - and that's a positive side, not a negative one."
