Nativity 1A religious liberty law firm is joining the fight to keep Christ in Christmas, including in the public square.

Attorneys with Thomas More Society have joined with the group American Nativity Scene (AMS) to spread the good news of “Emmanuel” during the upcoming Christmas season.

Thomas More attorney Thomas Olp tells OneNewsNow that AMS is giving away free Nativity scenes online thanks to a generous anonymous donor.

Each free set requires a manger to complete the display and must be ordered by November 1.

The group’s website states that a main goal is to place a Nativity scene on the grounds of state capitol buildings that are highly visible.

Olp

Olp says the effort to place Nativity scenes on public property has created legal fights for Thomas More over claims by atheist groups that using public property for religious purposes is “establishment” of religion.

Many public officials, meanwhile, are convinced that is true or they are simply concerned with backlash and controversy over the issue, the attorney adds.

“And the sponsors of those nativity scenes have come to us,” he says, “and we've had to explain to the public authorities that this is entirely legal.”

The order page on the AMS website also includes legal advice and suggestions about requesting a permit, and information about the size of the Nativity scene and how to properly arrange it for public display.
