An Alabama congressman is outraged that an illegal alien accused of killing a woman in a head-on hit-and-run car crash had taken advantage of the U.S. asylum system and catch and release policy.
16-year-old Guatemalan national Domingo Francisco Marcos reportedly slammed head-on into 49-year old Mobile school teacher Sonya Jones, killing her, on March 18th. He then tried to leave the scene but was apprehended by police.
Bradley Byrne (R), who represents Alabama's First Congressional District, where the victim was his constituent, told the Fox News Channel that Marcos took advantage of the country's lax asylum laws to remain in the U.S.
"Like so many people, he tried to game the system," said Byrne. "When he had a court date for his asylum claim, he didn't show up. This is why the president is so insistent that we build the wall and that we change our laws -- so that these sorts of incidents don't happen to innocent American citizens."
OneNewsNow reported earlier this month that more than two million illegal aliens are roaming free on American soil, despite deportation orders, which is a pretty good indication that the country's immigration laws are weak and/or abused, according to a watchdog group.
"By the way, we've had two rapes by illegal immigrants in the northern part of Alabama," Congressman Byrne relays. "It doesn't matter where you live in America; these people can come into our country and harm us."
According to Breitbart, the illegal alien in this Mobile case has been charged with vehicular homicide and awaits a bond hearing. Alabama state officials are asking that Marcos not be released from prison.
