A Clinton scandal even the media can't ignore

Clinton email scandalA conservative watchdog group is pleased that a federal judge has ordered the State Department to release nearly 15,000 newly-found Hillary Clinton emails within the next few weeks.

Judicial Watch says the court has mandated that the State Department review the emails and turn over responsive records by September 13th. In a court statement last week, the State Department admitted that it found documents related to the September 11, 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack among the 14,900 Clinton emails and attachments uncovered by the FBI that Mrs. Clinton had deleted and withheld from the State Department.

"She thought she'd destroyed them," reports Chris Farrell, director of investigations at Judicial Watch. "She thought that she hid them from the public, but nearly 15,000 more emails have been recovered."

Farrell

He asserts that these are records the presidential candidate certainly does not want made public.

"It was certainly enough for Mrs. Clinton to try to hide them," Farrell notes. "So I would imagine that there's probably very interesting material in there."

Judicial Watch is also scheduled to receive documents related to the controversial employment status of former Clinton staffer Huma Abedin.

"All this is very disturbing because it is obvious gross corruption," the investigator states. "Anybody reading this stuff … can smell the corruption on it."

Even so, a conservative activist remains skeptical that voters will hold the Democrat accountable for the undisclosed emails, which, among other things, reveal the "pay for play" scandal involving the State Department giving special access to top Clinton Foundation donors while Clinton was Secretary of State.

Knight

Robert Knight, a senior fellow at The American Civil Rights Union and a columnist for OneNewsNow.com, is not optimistic that this will derail Clinton's candidacy.

"Every time I think a major scandal will bring down the Clintons, they somehow skate right over it," Knight laments. "And that's because they have a little bridge they go over called the media. This is a major scandal, and the more that's come out, the more it's clear that the Clintons sold their influence through the Clinton Foundation for hundreds of millions of dollars. Outright graft -- couldn't be any clearer that this would take down any candidate except perhaps one of the Clintons."

But even liberal papers like The Washington Post and The Boston Globe are covering the scandal.

"Sometimes if a scandal is so pungent, they can't ignore it," Knight observes. "You'll see the mainstream -- The Boston Globe or The Washington Post -- run an article or two about it."

Judicial Watch reports that the State Department is scheduled to release the newly-discovered emails by September 30th.
