Rabbi: America's 143-yr. reign kaput, Obama's address a biblical warning

Ironically, President Barack Obama's State of the Union message declaring that "the shadow of crisis has passed" couldn't be further from the truth, says one New York Times bestselling author. He also contends that America's 143-year reign as the world's strongest economic force officially came to a close ... months ago.

A Closer LookInstead of the shadows lifting — as the president predicted on Tuesday night — the biblically savvy rabbi argues that they are just beginning to set in. He refers to ancient Israel's falling away from God's Word and soon-to-follow disintegration as a nation as a warning few Americans have heeded.

"Listening to the president's State of the Union address, I was reminded of ancient Israel," Rabbi Jonathan Cahn told WND. "The people (of Israel) convinced themselves that they were coming back stronger than before. And then it all collapsed, and the judgment came."

Of harbingers and Shemitahs

Cahn, whose book The Harbinger: The Ancient Mystery That Holds the Secret of America’s Future was a New York Times bestseller for more than 110 weeks, argues that America's rejection of God's Word is ushering in His judgments — a cause-and-effect that is thoroughly examined in his work.

The "harbingers" that Cahn mentions as signs of America's impending demise are typical of a post-Christian society — one that has turned its back on God and that will suffer the consequences.

Cahn also points to the current Shemitah year as a clear indication that America is in the midst of a plunge into obscurity. He describes the dynamics of the Shemitah in another one of his New York Times bestsellers — The Mystery of the Shemitah: The 3,000-Year-Old Mystery That Holds the Secret of America’s Future, the World’s and Future and Your Future! — alerting America of judgments in the past few months and months to come.

"The Shemitah comes once every seven years," WND's Leo Hohmann explains in his article. "In biblical Israel, it brought a canceling of debts, a resting of the land from sowing and reaping, and a resetting of financial accounts. The seven-year Shemitah cycle was meant as a blessing as long as the Israelites followed God and observed his ways, but it could manifest as judgment if the nation turned to its own devices and removed God from its culture and legal system."

According to Cahn, the previous two Shemitah years the United States experienced took place from 2001-2002 (when the 9/11 Muslim terrorist attacks took place on Sept. 11)  and 2007-2008 (when the historic stock market crash occurred sending the economy into a deep recession in Sept. 2008).

Seven years later, in the midst of America's current Shemitah (2014-2015), Cahn notes similar economic- and terrorist-related judgments. First, he points to Sept. 25, 2014 — just two weeks after the beginning of the current Shemitah year — when the U.S.'s 143-year reign as the most powerful economic nation on the planet came to end. America's unparalleled economic prosperity began in 1871 when it overtook Britain, and ended when China quietly took the reins from the U.S. as the most dominant economic force on Earth last September, reports the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The following month, Business Insider officially named China the world's largest economy.

"America's crown as the strongest economic power on earth was removed," Cahn informed WND. "It passed to China. The word Shemitah can mean 'the fall.' That alone would constitute one of the greatest falls in modern history — the end of the American age."

Business Insider explained how IMF measured China's ascension to the top: by calculating the gross domestic product in both purchasing power and exchange terms.

"On the purchasing-power basis, China is overtaking the U.S. right about now and becoming the world's biggest economy," Business Insider stated last October. "By the end of 2014, China will make up 16.48 percent of the world's purchasing-power adjusted GDP (or $17.632 trillion), and the U.S. will make up just 16.28 percent (or $17.416 trillion)." Cahn points out how he saw this coming all along. "I've warned in The Harbinger and as I've spoken across the country that if this nation doesn't return to God, its crown as head of nations will be removed," Cahn reminded America.

It's not over yet …

The next judgment Cahn fears is right around the corner (before the current Shemitah ends in September) which he believes could very well involve America's newest and most formidable terrorist threat — ISIS.

"The judgment and destruction of Israel was carried out by the Assyrians, the fathers of terrorism," Cahn recounts from the Bible, according to WND. "The emergence of ISIS and its conflict with America is ominous."

Despite ISIS touting its threats publically on a global scale as an Islamic holy war (jihad) against the infidels (non-Muslims), Obama refuses to mention Islam as having anything to do with its horrific and recurring terrorist attacks.

"Notably missing from Obama's [State of the Union] speech was any mention of radical Islam or Islamic terrorism, even as the issue has taken center stage in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo attacks in France and subsequent arrests of militants in France, Belgium and Germany," WND's Hohmann observed.

But ISIS isn't the only thing that can bring about a near-future judgment against the U.S., as Cahn's eyes will also be focused on the highest court in the land. It is scheduled to make a landmark decision well before the current Shemitah year comes to a climactic close late this summer on Sept. 13.

"The harbingers have continued to manifest and America's apostasy from God has only accelerated," Cahn warns. "In April of this year, in the midst of the Shemitah, the Supreme Court will hear a case that will likely end marriage as we know it. The verdict will be released in June. That will mark a critical point in America's fall from God."

Cahn also alerts America that losing its top economic spot to China last year could very well be just the first indication of its economic demise. Hohmann relates America's instability through Cahn's eyes.

"As for the economy, destabilization in the currency markets and disruptive oil markets are creating a springboard for turbulent times ahead," WND's Hohman explained. "Whether America's economic judgment comes with a sudden, painful jolt or as a slow, grinding down until it becomes subservient to other nations, remains to be seen. But either way, the Messianic Jewish rabbi from New Jersey believes America will be knocked off its perch atop the world order, especially economically, if widespread repentance does not occur."

Cahn says America's economy is already showing many signs that it is ready to take a critical plunge.

"There's an eerie kind of unease," Cahn observed, according to WND. "The stock market has been hit by strange waves of volatility and violent swings. And it actually began the very first week of the Shemitah."

The rabbi and bestselling author warns that Americans brace for the worst. "I believe we're watching a house of cards," Cahn concludes. "It could implode at any time."
