Gender Unicorn (sex unknown)In a culture fighting over the minds of children, it seems fitting that a California-based legal firm would reach out to parents during School Choice Week and encourage them to rescue those minds, while they can, from far-left public schools.

School Choice Week, which kicked off Jan. 24, easily grabbed the attention of the Pacific Justice Institute which is familiar with the daily classroom battles over politics and history, and marriage and sex, in the liberal-dominated state of California.

“For most Christian parents throughout the country,” says PJI president Brad Dacus, “public schools are really no longer a viable option because of the spiritual genocide now being implemented in many large school districts."That is because the local public school, which once partnered with parents, is dominated by left-wing progressives who view parents as the enemy if they believe the Bible is true, for example, or instruct their children that God created only two genders, or insist the planet is not warming due to fossil fuels and our planet is doomed.

The COVID-19 pandemic has turned in-person school instruction on its head, too, leaving many parents uncertain but determined to find a way to get their children back inside a classroom.

Despite the financial difficulties, Dacus is witnessing more and more parents pull their children from a public-school classroom and place them in a private school, such as a charter school or a Christian school. He also adds that home-schooling remains another good option for parents, too, thanks to a wide choice of challenging curricula to choose from such as A Beka, Bob Jones, and Christian Light.

"Homeschooling is no longer a go-it-alone endeavor,” he tells One News Now. “Instead, parents are working together.”

In communities throughout California, he says, churches have formed “co-ops” to help families organize and to reach out to parents who are uncertain about how to begin homeschooling.

On its website, PJI has homeschooling resources for parents, churches, and pastors. The law firm also works with a California church pastor, Peter Mordh, who serves as a liaison to help other pastors.
