Fox-hating Dems, not a former president, coming after media
A media watchdog says it is worrisome but enlightening to witness prominent Democrats reveal themselves as authoritarian figures after they warned about Donald Trump for four years.
Several years ago, state Senator Kimberly Lightford (D-Chicago) successfully introduced legislation lowering the compulsory school age from seven to six. Now she is attempting to lower it again. David Smith, executive director of the Illinois Family Institute (IFI), says that does little to further a child's education.
"One more year of school is only going to provide the left and the teachers' unions with more access to our kids to indoctrinate them," Smith submits.
He says a plethora of parents know their five-year-olds are not cognitively, emotionally, or socially ready to begin school.
"That decision shouldn't be put into the hands of bureaucrats in Springfield but should be the prerogative, the right of parents to decide," the IFI spokesman contends. "Five years old is very young."
He adds that homeschoolers are not off the hook here, as homeschooling parents will have to show school officials proof that they have started homeschooling their five-year-old children.
