Special interest groups are lining up to demand their pound of flesh from a potential Biden administration, and one is demanding an end to Christian higher education.
According to progressive civil rights organizations, the black vote put Joe Biden over the top in the election. Feminists credit the women, and trade unionists think it was their members. The LGBT Human Rights Campaign is at the trough as well and has come up with 85 demands in a document called "Blueprint for Positive Change."
One of the demands featured in the 24-page document is for the Department of Education to deny accreditation to any Christian college or university that insists on holding the biblical view of sexuality. Southern Baptist Theological Seminary President Al Mohler recently expressed his concern on Tony Perkins's "Washington Watch" program.
"That means … Christian colleges, housing, admissions, hiring of faculty, and student life [would] have to recognize same-sex marriage," he warns. "You'd have to recognize homosexuality as a legitimate lifestyle for students. You'd have to hire without regard to a Christian understanding of sexuality."
Mohler credits President Trump for setting the left's expectations so high.
"President Trump did exactly what he said he would do in executive orders, and frankly, the left was shocked by it," Mohler observes. "They're basically saying to Joe Biden, 'We're expecting the very same thing from you.'"
Meanwhile, Joe Biden shows no indication that he will suddenly respect anyone's religious freedom.
"These forces of intolerance remain determined to undermine and roll back the progress you all have made," the Democrat told the Human Rights Campaign in 2016. "They're a small percentage of the American people – virulent people, some of them the dregs of society.”"
