Cornell University is the latest donor to the already-enriched Black Lives Matter group, and an author and critic says the school did so to prove it is “woke.”
"You have schools competing for which can be the most 'woke,' to use their terminology,” observes Frank Connor, author of the anti-leftist book Progressive Reports.
According to Campus Reform, a letter to the editor published in the student newspaper blasted the Student Activities Funding Commission for donating $10,000 to a fundraiser for the Cornell Students for Black Lives. That money, which comes from student fees, amounts to a higher donation than any other student organization on campus, the letter stated.
Cornell, located in Ithaca, New York, is an Ivy League school with a student population of approximately 24,000.
According to Connor, it is unlikely the donation occurred without approval from Cornell administrators who can now boast that they supported a popular left-wing cause.
In a July 16 story, OneNewsNow reported a watchdog group analyzed Black Lives Matter funds from 2017-2019 and found approximately 80 percent of expenditures was spent on personnel, consultant work, and travel. Yet numerous prominent corporations are lining up to make generous donations to the Marxist group.
