Two groups prominent in America's public education community are being taken to task for strategically indoctrinating children in liberal thought and "progressive" political activism.
Every summer, the National Education Association assembles thousands of delegates to consider and vote on "new business items" for the teachers' union. Laurie Higgins of the Illinois Family Institute reports one of those items adopted at the NEA convention last month in Houston states unequivocally that the organization supports abortion.
"One of their new business items was 'The NEA vigorously opposes all attacks on the right to choose and stands on the fundamental right to abortion under Roe v. Wade,'" she quotes.
Higgins contends the union is no longer about teacher pay and working conditions. "You tell me how that [business item] is relevant to public school teaching," she adds.
"The NEA and its ideological allies have transformed education into indoctrination," the family advocate writes, urging conservatives – especially Christians – to "exit [public education] immediately if not sooner."
Christian parents, she argues, must either homeschool or put their children in private schools – and if that's not financially feasible, she says, churches need to step in and do what they can to make that happen.
"[Churches] need to make funds available, like mission funds, so parents in their churches can pull their kids out of school and send them to existing private schools," she tells OneNewsNow.
According to Higgins, many if not most of the new business items adopted by the NEA align with the union's "leftist, political advocacy" agenda.
Shhh … your parents don't have to know
Not to be outdone, the American Library Association openly pursues its objective of indoctrinating children of all ages with the LGBTQ movement – except when in it comes to the parents.
The ALA's annual convention earlier this summer in Washington, DC, offered more than 100 workshops from which the 21,000-plus who attended could choose. Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel reveals that many of the workshops had a blatant, socialist LGBTQ agenda.
"Some of the workshops are entitled 'Queerness in Comics,' 'A Child's Room to Choose: Encouraging Gender Identity and Expression in School and Public Libraries,'" he shares. "They're also encouraging the libraries and the librarians on how not to inform the parents of what their children are reading."
That workshop was entitled "Are You Going to Tell My Parents? The Minor's Right to Privacy in the Library."
Public libraries across the U.S. have been in the spotlight over the last several months for hosting "Drag Queen Story Hours" that feature adult cross-dressers and transgenders reading to children. Staver says the ALA makes no pretense about imbuing children with the corrupt homosexual lifestyle while trying to conceal parents from knowing what their children are being exposed to.
"They are literally using these publicly funded libraries as indoctrination centers, shielding the parents from what they're giving to these children," Staver laments. "This is absolutely reprehensible."
The Liberty Counsel founder says it's essential for parents to investigate what is taking place at most public libraries.
