sex educationA senior fellow for the a free market think tank hopes the success of a group of fed-up parents who pushed back against a liberal attempt to radicalize sex education in Arizona will encourage other parents nationwide.

Calling themselves #Purple4Parents, Breitbart News reports the grassroots group stood up to #RedforEd, in association with the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network, and their attempt to include homosexual and gender lifestyles in its comprehensive sex education curriculum.

Vincent Vernuccio of the Mackinac Center for Public Policy says the leftist teachers group failed because they once again resorted to a strike.

"That really flies in the face of what many teachers and parents want," he comments.

Vernuccio hopes this development will encourage parents nationwide to push back when faced with attempts to further radicalize education.

"We hope that there is pushback when unions are trying to organize teachers to deprive children of education simply to advance their own end, that parents will say, 'Enough is enough,'" he submits.

The Mackinac Center believes teacher strikes for political purposes are harmful to a student's education. However, the organization takes no official stance on the political agenda of the strike itself.

Confronted by significant public opposition, Breitbart reports the Arizona State Board of Education scuttled plans to introduce the unpopular curriculum.
