Feds move to correct Obama's transgender healthcare policies
WASHINGTON (May 24, 2019) — The Trump administration proposed Friday to roll back Obama-era discrimination policies for transgender people in health care.
While the Democrat-led "Equality Act" has drawn its share of criticism from conservatives for negative ramifications, its potential impact on public schools is also drawing attention.
Passage of the Equality Act (H.R. 5) – according to groups like the National Religious Broadcasters and Christian leaders like Dr. James Dobson and Dr. Michael L. Brown – will bring with it restrictions on religious freedom and fines for expressing Christian views on transgenderism, for example.
A major concern for Stephanie Curry of the Colorado-based Family Policy Alliance is that even though the "Every Student Succeeds Act" was supposed to limit federal involvement in local school districts, H.R. 5 would bring it back in more devastating ways than ever.
Curry argues that that the bill would manipulate students to carry the LGBTQ banner for homosexual activists – whether their parents approve of it or not – and would force schools to conform to the LBGTQ agenda. "And particularly [it would force] all schools to conform to providing special rights for those who identify as LGBT," she tells OneNewsNow.
The public policy manager says the pending legislation stipulates that the homosexual agenda be included in every class in every school, even in math classes.
"They have interpreted these laws to mean the experiences of LGBT people must be covered in every class, whether or not it has anything to do with the material," she laments. "And even more concerning is that parents and families will not be able to opt out."
Although the bill has little chance of getting through the Senate and being signed by President Donald Trump, Curry predicts tenacious liberal activists will propose it again and again in an effort to eventually get it passed.
