Israeli flagA newly-released study by a pro-Israel organization confirms the detrimental effects of academic boycotts of Israel.

The study from the AMCHA Initiative shows a strong link between the presence of faculty members expressing support for an academic boycott of Israel and the worst forms of anti-Semitism - acts of anti-Jewish hostility.

Tammi Rossman Benjamin, who is with the Initiative, says the research shows that schools with one or more faculty boycotters were between four and seven times more likely to have acts of anti-Jewish hostility.

"This has got to be a problem," she says, "that is raised to the highest levels of the administration and faculty, and that really is addressed, I think, in a vigorous way."

The findings were replicated in three separate studies, Benjamin says, conducted over two different calendar years.

The results of the study, she tells OneNewsNow, show that a "hunch" of faculty involvement proved to be correct.
