'Heteronormativity' the norm for a reason

Teacher with young studentsA University of Michigan researcher is under fire after complaining that too many preschool students are being taught that heterosexuality is the norm.

From her research, Heidi M. Gansen says that "heteronormativity" contributes to the "reproduction of inequalities pertaining to gender and sexuality" – progressive ideology that Chris Gasek of the Family Research Council (FRC) calls a waste of time and research money.

"I don't know how much research you have to do to sort of confirm that kind of thing, because to most normal people, that's not evil," the FRC senior fellow submits. "She's the problem, so what you need to do is get rid of the investigators like her and stop taking them seriously."

Gasek points out that progressives believe children belong to the state and not to the parents.

"That's the way they look at your children. Your children aren't yours; they belong to the state, society. And that's basically to them their agenda," he continues. "So their agenda now is to destroy the sexual identity of your children."

According to Campus Reform, Gansen says her findings "demonstrate the importance of teachers actively working to disrupt heteronormativity, which is already ingrained in children by ages 3 to 5."
