Two prominent teachers unions in Massachusetts have come out in favor of a transgender bill which would open up all public restrooms, showers and changing facilities to biological males.
The Massachusetts Teachers Association and the American Federation of Teachers Massachusetts back legislation that would subject women and girls to adult males invading their privacy. Andrew Beckwith of the Massachusetts Family Institute isn't surprised that the teachers unions are going this direction.
"Unfortunately we've seen this type of behavior from the Massachusetts Teachers Association and other public school teachers unions that are vocal advocates for basically the entire spectrum of the LGBTQ agenda,” he says. “So this is just the most recent iteration of that."
Even if the bill passes, he's hopeful a potential gubernatorial veto can't be overridden.
"Fortunately, there are enough legislators who have heard from enough of their constituents that they don't want this,” he tells OneNewsNow. “And they don't have the super-majority that they would need to overcome what we hope would be a gubernatorial veto if it were to pass."
Sean Ryan of MassResistance told LifeSite News that the teachers unions support of this bill "calls into question the underlying quality of public schools." Also backing the bill are the state's associations of school superintendents and school committees.
