Common Core with school 620x300Students in England were instructed to write an essay pretending they had converted to Islam. One political observer contends the same thing is happening frequently in American schools as well – compliments of Common Core.

Fox News' Todd Starnes reported last month that 12- and 13-year-old students at Beaucamps High School on the British Isle of Guernsey were told to consider what it would be like to become a Muslim – and then they were instructed to write a letter to loved ones explaining why they had converted.

Donna Hearne with The Constitutional Coalition says correspondence she receives indicates similar teaching is happening quite regularly in the U.S. public school system.

"It probably is almost rare that a week goes by that I don't get some email from somebody or a note from somebody [asking] Did you know this is happening in our school district?"

Hearne explains the reason for the frequency of such instruction is because it is part of the Common Core Standards.

"Here's your Common Core popping its head up again: state-mandated standards and assessments," she tells OneNewsNow. "And because this was on the assessments [teachers] said they had to teach it – and [when asked] Why aren't you teaching Christianity and Judaism?, [they replied:] Oh, those aren't on the standards."

According to Starnes' report, even when Beaucamps informed parents it was a make-believe scenario and no student was actually forced to convert, the locals weren't convinced. A reader on the Guernsey Press website commented: "In this day and age when easily-led youngsters are being radicalized, it is a dangerous road to be taking."
