Liberalism at the root of city's decline

policeman by patrol carA Minneapolis-based ministry leader says liberalism has destroyed her city and her state to the point where she doesn't feel safe any longer.

Minneapolis was "ground zero" in 2020 for the mass rioting and lawlessness that gripped many Democrat-controlled cities in the U.S. – and Minneapolis was where a black man, George Floyd, died in the custody of police last May and a white officer was later charged with his murder.

That tragedy led the city council to defund the city police department – which caused officers to leave the department in droves and resulted in a surge of violent crime in Minneapolis. That situation then forced the city council to "redo" the defunding and approve $6.4 million to recruit more police officers.

One News Now spoke with Jan Markell, founder and director of Olive Tree Ministries based in a Minneapolis suburb. She says her hometown is not safe any longer.

Markell, Jan (Olive Tree Ministries)"I personally know two people who've had their cars hijacked, stolen from them and never recovered – and this is because of leftist delusion that the police are the root of the problem," she shares.

It's not the police that's the problem, says Markell: the chaos, she explains, is "the product of leftist politics" and "nutjobs."

"These people have been given over to the depraved mind. They look at evil as good and good as evil," says the ministry leader. "I think what America is facing here in the next four years is staggering – and I do mean that in a very negative way."

Markell is encouraging voters to "re-examine liberalism and re-think conservatism" – because conservatism "doesn't do any of this." And liberalism, she argues, "will destroy everything."
