drug useA physician from the Christian Medical and Dental Association is questioning supposed medical research suggesting hallucinogenic drugs can alleviate trauma caused by racial discrimination.

According to The New York Post, researchers at Ohio State University and the University of Ottawa claim that “dropping” LSD and using magic mushrooms, ecstasy and other psychedelics can relieve the trauma from racial discrimination.

Barrows

Dr. Jeff Barrows of the CMDA says the study was biased. It favored the use of the dangerous drugs since the researchers used subjects who are already users of psychedelics. That decision by itself is bad, he says, but the drugs themselves are dangerous and should not be associated with any study about dealing with trauma.

"If you get too high a dose, many of them are associated with psychosis and even death. There have been deaths that have occurred,” he warns. “They can have very poor and traumatizing psychedelic experiences as a result if they get a contaminated form of drug or too much of it."

One has to wonder, the physician adds, why taxpayer money was used to fund this questionable research when they should be looking at proven trauma therapies.
