Holly Meade, international director for the Liberty Counsel Day of Purity, tells One News Now February 14th is typically the official day of the event.

"However, this year we are asking students to celebrate it on February 12th, since that is a Friday," she continues. "We're encouraging students to wear white on that day to publicly promote abstinence and stand for purity and hopefully inspire other young people to do the same and save intimacy for marriage."

The Day of Purity is based on 1 Timothy 4:12, which reads, "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity."

Meade says the campaign is a great way for young people to demonstrate the importance of purity both for themselves and for their friends.

"Especially in the day when culture is pressuring them toward sexual temptation and making that look like it's cool … we're trying to tell them that standing for God and for purity is really what's best for them," the event director adds.

Liberty Counsel is encouraging participants to make their stand for purity public.
