coronavirus rubber gloveA longtime conservative activist, who has been fighting Canada’s liberal government for years, is praising an Alberta virologist who downplayed the danger of COVID-19 and is reassuring the public.

The comments from Dr. Robert Hodkinson, who was speaking at an Edmonton city meeting, went viral on Youtube after he criticized the “public hysteria” over the virus and described it as a bad case of the flu for most people who get it.

“This is not Ebola. It’s not SARS. It’s politics playing medicine,” he told the city’s leaders. “And that’s a very dangerous game.”

Edmonton, a city of 932,000, is located in the province of Alberta.

The online COVID-19 update for Canada shows 451 COVID-19 deaths have been recorded in Alberta, which has a population of 4.4 million. That means the fatality rate is 0.01%.

In his speech, Hodkinson blamed the media and politicians for scaring the public, and an online search shows news outlets CBC News, Edmonton Journal, and CTV News recently reported on a single-day record of 1,105 cases in Alberta.

Canada's far-left prime minister, Justin Trudeau, set the Internet ablaze in September after telling the United Nations the pandemic "has provided an opportunity for a reset," which he described as an opportunity to "reimagine economic systems that actually address global challenges like extreme poverty, inequality, and climate change.”

“This is the greatest hoax,” the physician said, “ever perpetrated on an unsuspecting public.”

Brian Rushfeldt, a former executive director of Canada Family Action, tells OneNewsNow that some cities are “rising up” especially over the mandate to wear masks.

“Because more and more are realizing that masks are not effective,” he says, “that they are some false hype that's been imposed on them by an ignorant politician."

Dr. Hodkinson, in fact, called masks “utterly useless” and called it an act of “virtue signaling” by Canadians who claim they are protecting others.
