Stand Up for Religious FreedomThe country has lost a longtime defender of biblical morality.

Lou Sheldon, the founder of Traditional Values Coalition, has died at age 85 at his home in California.

Greg Quinlan, who heads Garden State Families, says Sheldon “stood for truth” and endured the “fiery darts” that came from those who don’t.

“Because it exposes their own activity, their own beliefs, and their own behavior,” Quinnlan says, “and [Sheldon] was willing to do that.”

As if it prove that point, Sheldon’s passing earned him a story on The Advocate, the pro-homosexual news website, which called him “one of the leading homophobes” of the conservative movement.

The story went on to complain that Sheldon was close to Newt Gingrich, the former Speaker of the House, supported Clarence Thomas' nomination, and repeatedly visited the White House during the George W. Bush administration.

Sheldon started his career as a Presbyterian pastor but switched to the Anglican Church when that denomination began drifting leftward.

Quinlan, a former homosexual, says the late right-wing warrior was often called a “hater” by his opponents.

“That is not what he was at all, not at all,” Quinlan recalls. “He wanted to see the redemption of those who were caught in homosexuality.”
