Barnes & Noble BooksellersA national book store chain is being called out for selling a parody of a children's book that mocks the office of the President of the United States.

Barnes & Noble Booksellers is carrying a book – published October 1 – called If You Give a Pig the White House: A Parody. It's an adult satire of the children's book If You Give a Pig a Pancake. On its website, the book retailer provides the following overview of the book:

"A coiffed and blustery pig has shoved his way into the White House! A cleverly worded and illustrated picture book, this is the adult parody of the beloved children's cautionary tale, 'If You Give a Pig a Pancake.'

"Watch in dismay as the presidential pig gets into trouble, binges on too much Fox News and fast food, and cavalierly threatens national security. 'If You Give a Pig the White House' both lovingly caricatures the original children's book and shows just what can happen when a greedy anti-hero tracks his hooves all over America."

Monica Cole is director of OneMillionMoms. "The illustrations are to resemble a popular children's book. Even though it's written by a different author, they mirror each other," she explains.

'Pig' book (not 800x500)Cole argues that it's irresponsible for the book store to sell the book because it shows disrespect to the office of the president.

"No matter who the president is of the United States, we teach our children to respect that office and anyone who holds that office," she tells OneNewsNow. "Shame on Barnes & Noble for carrying this book. Not only does it cause confusion, but it is disrespectful and completely unnecessary to ridicule our president."

1MM is urging Barnes & Nobel to immediately remove the book. "Selling such inflammatory political garbage is reprehensible and only creates more divisiveness in our nation," Cole adds.

At press time, an online petition posted by OneMillionMoms had drawn more than 12,000 signers.
