Protect the animals, but kill the babies?

"Abortion takes a human life" bannerOne chamber of Congress has approved a measure that one pro-lifer says is proof of the country's moral decay.

The U.S. House has passed a bill that makes animal cruelty a federal felony, and it will become law if the Senate approves it and if it is signed by President Trump. Eric Scheidler of the Pro-Life Action League tells OneNewsNow it would deal with incidents on federal property and crossing state lines.

"That's a good thing as far as it goes," he begins, "but you can't help but think about the cruelty that's being perpetrated against the most innocent and vulnerable among us, which are the unborn children who are being aborted at the rate of over 2,500 every single day in the United States."

That includes second- and third-trimester babies who feel excruciating pain as they are aborted one limb at a time. Scheidler says it is unsettling to see a society get more upset about cruelty to animals than about cruelty to vulnerable human beings in the womb.

Scheidler, Eric (Pro-Life Action League)"Unborn children have not only been dehumanized, they've been demonized," the pro-lifer continues. "People think of the fetus and the embryo as subhuman, or almost like parasites or aliens -- a way of stigmatizing, demonizing, and casting out of the human family."

Scheidler finds it hard to think of the animal cruelty measure passing when at least half of the politicians in office support the wholesale slaughter of unborn children. That, he says, speaks to a profound moral confusion in the United States.
