A California-based conservative activist says his state has become a "Third World state."
Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom recently signed a bill that provides free healthcare to all low-income individuals in the state who are 25 years old and under, including illegal aliens. Critics warn that expanding free health coverage will no doubt be an incentive for more illegal aliens to come to California, and this added burden to taxpayers comes at a time when the state is already grappling with massive homelessness, a crumbling infrastructure, wildfires, and earthquakes.
Jesse Lee Peterson, founder and president of the Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny (BOND), says The Golden State has really changed since he moved there in 1968.
"It's not unusual to see drug addicts and alcoholics and mentally ill people walking the streets day in and day out," he tells OneNewsNow.
"Taxes to pay for these people are through the roof, and now the governor is offering even more free stuff to them. It's getting worse. But it literally looks and feels like a Third World state. I never imagined seeing that when I first moved here back in 1968."
Peterson adds that many Californians are dependent on government, and they keep electing liberal Democrats who promise them more free stuff.
