hospital heart monitor surgeryA disabled French man has been ordered to die.

Vince Lambert, 42, suffered serious injuries in a motorcyle accident more than a decade ago and has been in a so-called vegetative state ever since. Now, France's highest court has overturned a lower court decision and has ordered that food and fluids be denied in order to kill him.

Alex Schadenberg of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition tells OneNewsNow this is “euthanasia by dehydration” because Lambert was not dying from a medical condition of any kind.

Schadenberg, Alex (EPC)“He had a cognitive injury, a head injury,” Schadenberg says. “He was not dying. He was nearing death. All he needed was care.”

Lambert’s wife had been fighting in court for his death but Schadenberg believes she should not have custodial rights.

“In fact,” he says, “what should be done is they should allow his parents to care for him and take the decision making away from his wife.”

Since dying by starvation and dehydration is horrible, Lambert is already heavily sedated to ease his pain.
