radio studio microphoneIt’s not surprising that the Trump-led White House has opened its arms to Christian leaders, and the latest example is welcoming Christian radio to D.C.

Mike Harper, vice president of East Texas radio station 89.5 FM, “The Voice of Encouragement,” says the May 21 event was already a nice event when Vice President Mike Pence made a surprise appearance.

"The Vice President came in and addressed the crowd,” Harper recalls, “and thanked Christian radio for how we encourage the community and stand for things like the sanctity of human life, for being pro-Israel.”

Pence also told the gathering that Christian music is special to him since he was saved in 1978 at a Christian musical festival in Kentucky.

Harper says it was “really cool” for the Vice President to tell them that he appreciates what they do, and he adds that the administration promised to remain in touch on issues that Harper and his peers care about.

Christian music artists Bart Millard, Michael Tait and JJ Weeks attended the White House gathering to lead in worship.
