To the shock and disappointment of many, the Republican governor of Massachusetts has signed a bill banning so-called conversion therapy.
Gov. Charlie Baker has signed the bill that was heavily supported by Democrats in both the House and Senate.
Andrew Beckwith of the Massachusetts Family Institute says Baker signed it despite huge outcry from those opposed to it.
"There were probably thousands of people who called into the governor's office over the past week, and that's on top of the 500 that showed up in person a few weeks ago,” he says. “This is just further evidence of how powerful the LGBT lobby is."
Beckwith says bill supporters falsely accused therapists of barbaric and cruel treatments such as shock treatments and dangerous drugs.
"But the most terrifying part is how it interjects the state in between parent and child,” he warns. “The Scripture says there'll be a time when people will call good evil and evil good. And here we have it on clear display."
Beckwith says fortunately a provision in the bill to label even talk therapy as child abuse, allowing authorities to seize children from their parents, was taken out.
