A dispute in Texas continues to put a divorced mother and father on opposite sides over the gender of their child. But an expert on transgenderism believes something is missing here.
The boy's name is James, although the mother insists the child is actually a girl named "Luna." The father claims that, when given the choice, James does not want to be or dress like a girl, and friends of the family have reportedly said as much. (See related story)
That, says Dr. Michelle Cretella of American College of Pediatricians, is important.
"According to the gender experts and the transgender activists, a child is only transgender – or diagnosed as transgender – when they consistently and persistently insist that they are not their biological sex," she explains. "At best, he [James] may be confused; at worst, this is a boy who is being forced to impersonate a girl by his mother."
The child's mother is a pediatrician, something Cretella says would give the public and the judge pause to believe her.
"But what I think is very important in this case is that she's breaking the rules of the progressive pediatricians," she tells OneNewsNow.
