Maginnis: Kerry, others were 'manipulated' by Iran's Zarif
A national defense analyst says it's unlikely that former members of the Obama administration will be prosecuted for doing something he says is "tacitly illegal."
This past Christmas, the Johnson family from Ridgeland, South Carolina, welcomed seven-year-old Shu-Wei (right) who traveled from China into their home for a three-week winter-hosting trip. Holly Johnson and her husband have seven children. She tells OneNewsNow the purpose of bringing in Shu was to show him the love of a family.
"We were aware that he was unable to see," she begins, "[but] we were not aware that that could be corrected potentially by transplants until doors were opened for him to have three free visits – two of those to specialists – during the time that he was here, which was a miracle during the holiday season."
Johnson says the miracles continued after they began working to make sight for Shu a reality.
"The first 15 days after he returned to China we had corneas donated to us, had a surgeon who offered to do her services free," she tells OneNewsNow. "[Then] we found out he did not have to have a medical visa, which was huge, to make his ability to travel a lot faster. We have a host family in the U.S. – and [now] all we're trying to do is cover the rest of the funds for the hospital bill."
Johnson says more than half the amount needed for his first cornea transplant surgery has been raised thus far. The surgery is scheduled for May 16.
The South Carolina mom says while this is Shu's opportunity for sight, they've been told if he doesn't have this surgery before age 8 he will be unable to see for the rest of his life. His eighth birthday is believed to be in November.
