A best-selling author and Christian apologist says Christmas is a perfect time to see Christ in the Old Testament.
As the world focuses on the birth of Christ, David Limbaugh has released a new book that chronicles the prophetic themes and threads of the Old Testament that all point to Christ. Limbaugh tells OneNewsNow that in The Emmaus Code: Finding Jesus in the Old Testament, Christians and non-Christians alike will get a better awareness of the extent to which Christ is foreshadowed and prefigured in the Old Testament.
"I wasn't as aware, until I began researching, just how much he permeated the Old Testament," the author shares. "Now I was aware because Christ said he did – this idea came from Christ, it didn't come from a church; it came from Jesus Christ himself.
"But until I investigated it and studied it with a view toward examining Christ's dominance in the Old Testament, I wasn't aware of all the many ways that he was prefigured."
Limbaugh says it requires a clear reading of the Old Testament in order to fully understand God's ultimate sovereign plan for the salvation of mankind through Jesus Christ. He goes on to say that God gave people the Bible so they don't have to imagine who God is and fashion him in their own image.
"The Bible is not something that man concocted, [it's not something] that man borrowed from other pagan cultures, [borrowed] their ideas of God and recorded them in Genesis. No – it is God revealing himself to man."
