A sporting goods firm in California is being asked to take corrective steps to protect little girls and women in their restrooms.
While shopping at a Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI) outlet in Santa Rosa, California, a mother sent her daughter and her daughter's friend to the lady's restroom.
"What would happen next was shocking," the Pacific Justice Institute's (PJI) Brad Dacus tells OneNewsNow. "The girls came out stunned after a man dressed like a man went into the women's restroom, to the horror of these young girls. They weren't touched by the man, but they were very shocked and very shaken."
When the mother brought the incident to the attention of store management, she was verbally attacked and told she was intolerant and that there was no place for people like her in the store.
"This is so outrageous and yet is part of the new twisted thinking that is consuming much of our culture, particularly on the West Coast," Dacus laments. "We at Pacific Justice Institute have sent a demand letter to the company, asking them to address this and to make sure this doesn't happen in the future."
Particularly, PJI asks REI to address the manager who accosted the mother and also to establish safety measures to prevent future occurrences.
"Until this matter is resolved, many parents would be wise to hold off on doing business with them, much less let their boys and girls use their restrooms," the attorney advises.
