President Obama has announced he supports a national law that bans so-called "conversion therapy" for minors.

"We as Americans need to say this is a severe threat to freedom," responds Peter LaBarbera, who heads Americans for Truth About Homosexuality.

"If people can't pursue their own healthy change, their own sexual self-identity, the desire to live in accordance with their Christian beliefs," LaBarbera adds, "then we don't have freedom in this country."

The counseling is for people with same-sex attractions, which including transgendered children who identify with the opposite sex, and children who have been sexually abused and are confused because of the experience.

LaBarbera, PeterLaBarbera says it appears that Obama has never met a "happy" former homosexual.

"Yet contented ex-gays and ex-lesbians live all over America," he says. "But the homosexual movement likes to focus on the failures of people who've had bad experiences with change therapy and then they want to ban it."

Liberals speak about diversity, inclusion and tolerance, LaBarbera notes, but they fight against true diversity by denying therapy for leaving the lifestyle.

Another freedom the law would destroy, he says, is for parents to decide what's best for their children.
