man wearing clerical collarA defender of the Catholic Church "against assaults from without as well as from within" says some of the Catholic hierarchy are treading on thin ice.

14 bishops have added their signatures to a document in partnership with the pro-homosexual Tyler Clementi Foundation. It states that God is on the side of homosexual youth.

Michael Hichborn, founder of the Lepanto Institute, a research and education organization, is not surprised. He says the Catholic Church has a problem of homosexual clergy.

"Two of the bishops that signed this letter -- one is Archbishop John Wester, and the other is Bishop John Stowe -- both of these men have been very involved with the Association of United States Catholic Priests, which is a radical association of Catholic priests that are pushing for homosexuality within the Church," Hichborn relays.

But as he points out, the Bible is clear on this issue.

"There were five whole cities that were completely and totally incinerated by God because of the sin attached to what these men are promoting," Hichborn notes. "That never changed. And Paul was very clear that the effeminate, the homosexuals, the fornicators, the thieves, [and] murderers do not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven."

But Paul also goes on to tell the Corinthians, "Such were some of you," meaning even though people had struggled with and committed those sins, including what the Bible refers to as the abomination of homosexuality, they were changed through Jesus Christ and left those sins behind. And through Jesus, that change is still possible and happening in people's lives today.
