Catholic bishops are preparing to keep a watch on Joe Biden if he becomes president, but the president of an organization dedicated to the defense of the Catholic Church wonders where their concern was during the campaign.
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has announced it will set up a task force to respond to the policies of a Biden presidency that violate Church teaching. Michael Hichborn of the Lepanto Institute tells OneNewsNow the panel would discuss how to handle Biden, a professed Catholic, including whether he should receive communion.
"Canon Law 915 is very clear that pro-abortion candidates, pro-abortion politicians are to be denied any access to the sacrament of Holy Communion, but the bishops have ignored this edict for the last 15 years." Hichborn explains.
The Democrat's support for abortion up to birth is not the only way he violates the Church's teachings.
Hichborn
"He has officiated two same-sex marriages, he's anti-religious freedom, he's promoting socialism, and he is very strongly in favor of spreading contraception," Hichborn lists. "So the idea that he is somehow a Catholic is laughable. I mean, the man is an apostate, if anything."
Further, if the Conference of Bishops is so concerned about Biden's violation of Catholic teachings, the pro-lifer wonders why it did not raise those issues while Biden was campaigning for the presidency.
"Joe Biden by the very nature of his actions should not only be denied Holy Communion, but there's a good, strong case to be made for him to be excommunicated," Hichborn concludes.
