A Catholic organization is taking a dim view of efforts within the Church hierarchy to pat Joe Biden on the back.
Even though Joe Biden had not been confirmed as the next president of the United States, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has sent a letter congratulating him on his win.
American Life League (ALL) spokesman Hugh Brown tells OneNewsNow that Biden claims to be a practicing Catholic, but his support for abortion violates the tenets of the Church.
"The USCCB is a pointless, feckless, just ridiculous organization," Brown adds. "I'm sure they've done some good, but they also stand and support things that are intrinsically evil, from homosexuality to birth control."
So Brown says this congratulatory message actually means nothing and does not speak for the Church – not even considering Pope Francis's similar message to the Democrat presidential candidate. Regarding the latter, Brown says the pope is simply expressing his own opinion.
"He doesn't speak for the Catholic Church," the ALL spokesman asserts. "He doesn't speak for Catholics. What has he been in his term? He's been a source of confusion. And where does confusion come from? Confusion comes from the devil. Shame on him! He doesn't represent the beliefs of practicing Catholics when he speaks his own opinion."
"Quite frankly, he would do the world a favor if he'd just keep his mouth shut," Brown concludes.
