Metaxas: Christians beware of left's attack on Western values

Eric MetaxasRenowned Christian author Eric Metaxas says that with all the rioting, COVID-19 measures and leftist political attacks on everything rooted in biblical principles, Christians have every reason to be alarmed.

He asserted that recent events – including Antifa and other domestic terrorists and demonstrators burning Bibles outside the federal courthouse in Portland, Oregon, and Communist-style coronavirus restrictions – should act as wake-up calls for the Body of Christ in America, who can expect to see a lot more than their religious freedom stripped away if things continue.

End of America as we know it?

Metaxas stressed how virtually everything in society is in danger because the left is seeking to destroy its biblical underpinnings.

"This has little to do with Christians,” the prominent Christian explained to CBN News. “The Bible is the book that gave us the West.”

And Christians are not the only ones reaping the benefits of God’s Word in most facets of their lives today.

“[W]hether you're an atheist, or an agnostic, or a Muslim, or a Christian, or a Jew – and you live in a place like the United States of America – it's because people took ideas from the Bible," Metaxas continued. "These are God's ideas – about self-government and liberty, and about having a relationship with the Creator where I govern myself."

He said because the Western world put God’s principles into practice, humans have flourished, enjoyed freedoms and gained great prosperity to a much higher degree than nations that reject Christian influence. And today, with Antifa and other violent rioters and looters striving toward a godless socialist-Marxist takeover across the nation, Metaxas contends the alarm should be sounding for every American.

"Christians should be the most alarmed in a sense, but everyone who has a stake in civility, everyone who has a stake in being able to have open debate to figure out what's actually best for everybody – what's best for the country – [should be very wary, as well]," Metaxas contended.

When God goes, so does law and order

In addition to demonstrators looting buildings and burning Bibles – along with Democratic officials shutting down churches as non-essential, while keeping abortion clinics and liquor stores open as “essential” – anarchists are not stopping there, wanting to be a law unto themselves by pushing to abolish the police, as seen in recent attacks against law enforcement officers trying to keep the peace and order across the country.

This is still being seen in Portland on a daily basis.

“A large explosive and other fireworks were thrown towards officers – along with fist sized rocks, bottles and cans of paint,” police reported Thursday amidst the rioting, according to Fox News.

This unrest took place at 11:30 p.m., and progressed through midnight, when police reclassified the illegal protest as a riot, and then the violent protesters reportedly began to close in around the federal courthouse, once again – the same one that President Donald Trump recently deployed federal troops to defend before calling them off days later.

“They threw eggs and continued to launch commercial grade fireworks towards officers,” the police report continued.

Anarchy still blowing in the Windy City

In addition to dozens of shootings and violence against cops taking place in Democratic-run cities across the United States – including New York City, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta – Chicago’s uptick in fatal shootings has combined with widescale looting … including gutting a Best Buy.

“At least 42 people have been charged with felonies following the widespread looting and unrest in Chicago this week, according to Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx on Thursday,” a separate Fox News report announced. “The charges include 28 for burglary and looting, six for gun possession, five for aggravated battery or resisting a police officer, and one each for theft and criminal damage to property, the office said, [with] the most serious charge tied to the looting [being] attempted murder.”

This week’s chaos was triggered Sunday by a Facebook video falsely claiming that police shot and killed a 15-year-old boy, as indicated by the Chicago-Sun-Times, and city officials called upon Foxx to hold more than 100 of the arrested rioters and looters so that they pay for their crimes.

The Democratic major of the city – who has repeatedly rejected Trump’s call to bring in federal troops to achieve law and order – is not taking responsibility for letting mayhem rule the streets of Chicago, and only recently started condemning the violence and destruction when mobs arrived on her doorstep.

“Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown pointed the blame to Foxx earlier this week,” according to a Fox 32 Chicago report. “Brown suggested that because so few were hit with serious charges during the previous looting in late May and early June, it caused more to do the same.”

Having enough of the anarchy, the police appear to be taking back the streets of Chicago.

“Criminals took to the streets with confidence that there would be no consequences for their actions, and I – for one – refuse to allow these cowardly acts to hold our city hostage,” Brown reasoned, as quoted in another Fox report. “CPD will not stand by as our beautiful downtown becomes someplace that people fear.”

Regardless, murders, violence, destruction and more unconstitutional COVID regulations continue to escalate as the November election approaches, with many conservative pundits contending that a win for the Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) ticket would bring on a new – and possibly indefinite – wave of godless socialist anarchy that could render America unrecognizable from the nation that was established with Christian foundations.
