Overcomer (movie scene)"Run, Hannah!" The two brothers who brought War Room, Fireproof, and Facing the Giants to theaters have a new film, this time about finding identity in Jesus Christ.

After the success of War Room, Kendrick brothers Alex and Stephen, and the rest of the crew at Sherwood Pictures, took a break to seek God's wisdom for what was next.

According to Alex Kendrick, who has played the lead in a number of the Sherwood films, it was time well spent.

"He made it really clear as we were in our own study of God's Word,” he recalls, “that identity was becoming such a hot issue in our culture, and so we really felt pressed to focus on the fact that the Creator gets to define His creation.”

“When you find your identity in the one who created you,” the movie trailer proclaims, “it will change your whole perspective.”

Overcomer is a sports-themed movie about a basketball coach who has been saddled with a cross-country team.

“When he goes out to see which athletes are coming out,” Kendrick explains, “one girl shows up and she's got asthma."

Kendrick tells OneNewsNow that Christian filmmaking is coming into its own, naming high-quality films such as Case for Christ and I Can Only Imagine.

“You're seeing films with higher production qualities,” he advises, “that do a better job of telling the story and representing our faith."

Overcomer opens in theatres August 23.
